In this context, this work aimed to evaluate the effect of the characteristics (chemical, physical and mineral) of waste from wet processing in ornamental rock plants (marble, granite, slate, among others) of different origins on the hydration process, performance and life cycle of composite with 20% replacement of Portland cement. The results showed that marble wastes had a significant effect on the neutralization of the soil as well as on the hazelnut yield. The soil pH was increased from 4.71 to 5.88 upon marble waste application at rates equal to agricultural lime requirement. Those who plan on using marble for a long time may benefit from including it in their eco-friendlyThe construction industry has a considerable environmental impact in societies, which must be controlled to achieve adequate sustainability levels. In particular, cement production contributes 5–8% of CO2 emissions worldwide, mainly from the utilization of clinker. Marble waste deposition is one of the major environmental issues in the marble industry. This study emphasizes the reuse of waste material in concrete as a sustainable construction practice. The work is based on substitution of cement partially by marble powder (0, 5, 10, 15, & 20% by weight) to produce grades M30 concrete with 1. Introduction. Worldwide cement production has remained constant since the crisis in 2008, reaching 4100 million metric tons in 2019 [] ().According to the latest International Energy Agency report, global cement production is expected to be 12% higher by 2050, with an increase of 4% in direct CO 2 emissions [].. 4.8: The Chemistry of Acid Rain Chemistry LibreTexts

The damage that acid rain does to limestone and marble buildings and sculptures is due to a classic acid–base reaction. Marble and limestone both consist of calcium carbonate (CaCO 3), a salt derived from the weak acid H 2 CO 3.As we saw in Section 4.7 the reaction of a strong acid with a salt of a weak acid goes to completion. Thus we can write the Turkey is located in one of the oldest marble-producing areas in the world, with 4000 years of natural stone production, which started at Marmara Island.
